Spring!

This truly feels like a never ending winter.  Its been so cold for so long now, and in the yurt it has been quite cold in the mornings.  We are all absolutely looking forward to some warmer weather.
Today I made a little spring table in the hope that it might inspire the spring to come.
The other day the girls and I each painted one of our chickens eggs to hang on the spring table.  We had a lot of fun and they brighten up our cold mornings.
Happy Easter!

Summer

Today the sun was not shining and we were feeling a little cold.  I am starting to wonder where the summer has gone.  So we decided to bring a bit of our own sunshine into the yurt today by picking some beautiful sunflowers.  They always help to cheer up a grey day.
I hope the sun comes back to shine for us soon because we are not ready for autumn just yet.

Spring

The last few days have been really warm and lovely and spring is in the air.  The birds have been waking us up at 6am, one of the down sides to living in a yurt is, that it is not very sound or light proof. So we have all turned in to early birds.  But it is not so bad, this time of year always fills me with energy.
I unexpectedly found myself home alone yesterday which meant I had some time to make some little spring things for the seasonal table.
After that I sowed some salad and lots of other yummy things in the green house. This was the high light of my day, the sun was shining and its was so hot in the green house it felt like summer and it made me very excited for all the lovely warm sunny days to come.

Winter

I have been waiting for winter for the past two months now, but it just doesn't seen to come.  Although the past week has been a bit colder, there is just no sign of snow. I love snow so much, hoping for it and enjoying it gets me through the winter.

This is our little winter table, its a bit bleak this year but I hope and if we ask king winter nicely he will bring us some snow soon.

Let it snow, let it snow,
Let it snow.

Advent Wreath

Me and my big girl went for a really lovely walk today to find green branches and leaves for our wreath because today is the first day of Advent.  An Advent wreath traditionally symbolises bringing the light of Christ in to the home in the dark days leading up to christmas. But these days it is used more as a count down to christmas; one candle is let on the first sunday of Advent and then the following three sundays until Christmas. I am not really a religions person, but I find this a really lovely way for the children to count down the weeks leading up to christmas.

On the 6th of December is St, Nichols and in Belgium it is a really big deal.  The children get lots and lots of presents and chocolate in their shoes. I have made a little St, Nichols for the girls to go on our seasonal table.
I just have to mention that I didn't make the house, that is still on my 'to do list'.

Autumn Table

It really is autumn time now, all the leaves are turning and the mushrooms are starting to pot out of the ground.  I like to make little things for my girls that represent the season and put them on the table.  Every season they have different things to look at and play with.  Autumn is my favourite season to make things for, because there are so many possibilities. I also really enjoy going for walks with the girls to find things to put on our table.
